Ecoprint on Paper

Sussex Prairies
21st August - 1 day
9.15 am – 2 pm

Cost £85 (including all materials)

You will be shown a fascinating way to transfer leaf form images to paper, making 15-20 Ecoprints. Local, familiar flowers and leaves will be used to make 15 – 20 contact prints revealing colour, texture, and pattern to your papers. You will learn the process of layering plants, applying mordants, clamping papers together, and simmering your bundles in a pot to reveal magical outcomes. A demonstration and discussion towards the end of the session will give you some ideas about what you can do next with your botanical prints. Once they have dried at home you can frame mount, stitch, or collage with them. You will have sufficient knowledge and skill to get started with Eco printing at home, detailed notes will be sent to you after the course to help you along with this.

Paper stock and other necessary printing materials including steam pots, foldback clips, clamps, steel plates, disposable gloves, and mordants will be supplied on the day. I will be collecting several dependable leaves to print from the Prairies, my garden, and local hedgerows.

Self Service Teas, coffees, and homemade biscuits are included in the course fee. There will be lovely cakes available to purchase in the garden café. Bring a packed lunch with you to eat on the go if you wish.

Please wear clothes suitable for messy work and bring an apron and a waterproof bag/sheet for transporting your damp samples home. Two weeks before the course date I will send you suggestions about leaves/flowers that print particularly well and that you might bring with you if you have easy access to them in your own gardens and hedgerows.  If not I’ll have plenty!
